Trauma Counselling

about Trauma

Trauma encompasses the full spectrum of deeply disturbing, shocking, or extreme life events; moments in which a person experiences or witnesses serious unexpected human suffering, with no power to prevent it. These may include violent crimes, rape, acts of terrorism, kidnapping, accidents, robbery, or the sudden loss of someone dear.

In the wake of such events, survivors naturally search for ways to process the pain and make sense of their experiences. The symptoms that follow can be overwhelming, and many find themselves struggling to regain a sense of control over their lives and to rebuild their self-worth.

In the aftermath, finding a way to live with the pain and the memories is no small task. Symptoms can become all-consuming, and the road back to feeling in control of your own life — and your sense of self — can feel very long indeed.

About Trauma Counselling

Trauma counselling offers a compassionate and structured space for those who have lived through a traumatic experience. Together, we work to make sense of what happened, understand the feelings it has left behind, develop strategies to stay safe, and build healthy, sustainable coping skills.

Where the memories of traumatic events remain particularly distressing, it may be necessary to reprocess them more deeply and, in these cases, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) can be a powerful and effective approach.
